Kirill Varyash (Varjas) is a Hungarian-born cellist currently residing in Riga, Latvia. With a lifelong passion for music, Varyash began his musical journey at the tender age of five, initially exploring the piano before discovering his true love for the cello at seven.

As a child, Varyash studied at the esteemed Central Music School, later progressing to the Academic Musical College at the Moscow State Conservatoire from 1986 to 1992. In 1998, he proudly graduated from the Moscow State Conservatoire, under the tutelage of renowned professor Alexander Kniazev.

During his studies, Varyash's exceptional talent earned him recognition, winning the Regional Competition for Young Cellists in Moscow in 1984 and becoming a laureate of the Moscow Competition for Young Cellists in 1989.

In 1998, immediately following his graduation, Varyash assumed leadership of The Sheremetyev Ensemble, a piano quartet founded by a group of newly graduated musicians. The same year, he embarked on a tour of Germany with a string quartet, participating in master classes conducted by leading concertmasters from the München Philharmonic and Berlin Philharmonic orchestras.

In 2001 The Sheremetyev Ensemble achieved further success, earning a Diploma at the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria. In 2002, they recorded a disc featuring works by American composer John Mitchell, and in 2005 they released a highly acclaimed disc showcasing piano quartets by Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms.

From 2003 to 2018, Varyash served as a cellist in the famous Russian National Orchestra, under the direction of Michael Pletnev. His tenure with the orchestra further enriched his musical expertise and contributed to his distinguished career.

Since 2018, Varyash has been captivating audiences with his solo and chamber performances in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, England, Singapore, Ukraine, and Russia, showcasing his extraordinary talent and musical artistry.

Beyond his performances, Varyash has dedicated over two decades to maintaining and developing the modern performing school based on the best heritage of the past. This distinguished lineage of musicians includes revered names like Ferentz Liszt, Niccolo Paganini, Anton de Kontski, Frederic Chopin, Alfred Cortot, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Fritz Kreisler, Gregor Piatigorsky, Daniil Shafran, and others. Among the current representatives of this esteemed school is Martha Argerich, a renowned pianist who has faithfully preserved the technological and musical techniques of her predecessors.

Since 2012, Varyash has also been imparting his extensive knowledge and expertise through private cello lessons, nurturing the talents of aspiring cellists and shaping the next generation of musicians.
